Employee Spotlight: Gavin Hermann

Gavin Hermann joined Montanya Distillers in January of 2017 and has been working full time with our crew ever since. His roles include merchandise shipping, booking the bands, serving, and most importantly, bartending.

Gavin grew up in Danville, Virginia, and moved out west to attend Western State Colorado University, from where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration and History. Gavin (like most others who find themselves in this beautiful place called Crested Butte) came here primarily for the mountains, the climbing, the biking, the serenity, the beauty, and the people.

The move to Colorado was an easy one for Gavin. Having grown up on the East Coast, he saw the important role that the outdoors can play in the healthy development of a young boy. His passion and love for the outdoors were a gift given to him by his father, Mark. Growing up, he visited the mountains of Western Carolina, specifically Brevard, the Pisgah National Forest, and the Nantahala, and he also went on several skiing trips to Colorado. This time traveling helped him to discover that he needed a mountainous college town!

Following graduation from Western, Gavin chose to stay in the valley due in part to the cherished friendships that were forged throughout his 5 years in Gunnison. He fell in love with the valley, which has ultimately become his home, and has evolved into so much more than he could ever have imagined. The gorgeous little town with its vast beauty, its hard working, loving people, and its endless recreational opportunities make for a wonderful place to reside.

The job at Montanya Distillers has been a blessing to Gavin, as he is able to both fulfill his “need” for the outdoors while also being provided a stable, happy, and healthy environment in which to work. From Gavin himself: "Kudos to you Montanya for following your dreams and allowing me to do the same!"
