Employee Spotlight: Kerek Spinney

Kerek found Crested Butte through his dad, who has been coming to CB since he was a teenager. According to Kerek, “He frequently brought our family to Crested Butte on vacations.” From those experiences, Kerek always knew he wanted to live in CB, and after college he finally made it happen.

Kerek’s Role at Montanya

Kerek is the Business Manager at Montanya Distillers. He handles HR duties such as running payroll, onboarding and offboarding employees, managing benefits, and ensuring compliance. He also uses his accounting background for all the company’s data analytics and expense tracking. Additionally, Kerek is in charge of tracking wholesale sales and depletions, and ensures purchase orders are properly processed in a timely manner. In addition to managing the business, Kerek wears many hats and is happy to do anything needed at Montanya!

Enjoying Time Outdoors

When Kerek’s not looking at spreadsheets, he loves to ski, mountain bike, raft, and work out in his free time. Luckily, Crested Butte is a haven for all these activities, which is a huge reason why he moved here. He recently got into mountain biking, which has quickly become one of his favorite hobbies.

Seeing the World

Kerek loves to travel. He has been to six continents and plans to go to the seventh (Antarctica) before he dies. Kerek reminisces that going on a road trip in Ireland with his family was one of his favorite vacations.
