In the Media: AFAR and the Ultimate Colorado Road Trip

It’s so fun when travel publications get off the beaten track, and AFAR magazine did a fabulous job in a recent article by Ashlea Halpern, Art Stars, High-Altitude Wines, and a Remote National Park: The Ultimate Colorado Road Trip. She leaves the expected snow-covered and rocky peaks for southwestern Colorado, highlighting so many places we know and love.

There’s the Amigo Motor Lodge in Salida that we love so much we included it in one of our own travel features, Rum on the Road: Salida. She includes Paonia wine country, which is just over the pass from Crested Butte and a favorite fall getaway, and not too far from there, the unforgettable Black Canyon of the Gunnison (the average depth is one mile, and the views are literally breathtaking).

And of course, it’s always fun to see your own home town get a shout-out too. A good number of our friends—and Montanya Distillers!—get mentioned. Check out the full article on AFAR.
